There’s something truly magical about Nigerian gatherings. Whether it's a wedding, a lively Owambe party, a game night, or a simple pool party, you know you're in for a treat when the small chops come in.
This week, we present a Nigerian cocktail with Gordon's Dry Gin, a sour-sweet drink that you must have in every party.
The Magic of Moringa and Dry Gin
The idea behind Ify's Dare is to create something that would wake up a dull party using the most unusual combination any cocktail glass has ever seen.
Moringa has earthy, vegetal notes. Gordon’s London Dry Gin, on the other hand, brings a crisp, juniper-forward profile that complements the sourness of citrus and the sweetness of honey syrup. The result is a cocktail that’s refreshing, shockingly sour, and full of character—just like a Nigerian party.
Introducing Ify's Dare, A Nigerian Cocktail with Gordon’s Dry Gin
This gin cocktail recipe is a daring symphony of Gordon’s Dry Gin, the piercing sourness of lime, the earthiness of moringa, and the tooth-decaying sweetness of honey. These otherwise contrasting flavors come together to create an explosion on the taste buds that no one has ever been able to drink with a straight face.
Do you think you can handle it? Because I really doubt it.
I really love sour snacks but this was on another level. - Angela Daniel
Ingredients

½ teaspoon of moringa powder
⅛ cup lemon juice
½ cup fresh lime juice
6 tablespoons of honey/ sugar syrup (honey or sugar with water)
¼ cup of Gordon’s Dry Gin
Lime wheels and moringa leaves (or mint leaves) for garnish
1 drop of green food colouring (optional)
How To Prepare your Ify's Dare with Gordon’s Dry Gin
Step 1
Mix Mix Mix
In a shaker (or water bottle), combine the lemon juice, lime juice, colouring, honey or sugar syrup, and moringa powder and shake it all together.
In the absence of moringa powder, you can crush dried moringa leaves.
If there is no moringa in sight, you can use mint leaves.
Step 2
Prepare your glass
Add Gordon’s Dry Gin to your ice-filled glass, add your lime wheels and moringa leaves.
Pour your mix into the glass and dust the top with some more moringa powder.
You can top with a splash of sprite if you think you want something a little more fizzy.

Nigerian Foods You Can Pair With Ify's Dare
Grilled or Roasted Meats
Grilled Chicken or Fish: The zesty and herbal flavours of the cocktail pair beautifully with simply seasoned grilled or roasted chicken or fish, enhancing the freshness of the dish.
Lamb Chops: The rich, gamey flavour of lamb chops is nicely offset by the bright and citrusy notes of Ify's Dare.
Rice and Grain Dishes
Coconut Rice: The subtle sweetness and creamy texture of coconut rice give a nice contrast to the sourness of Ify's Dare.
Quinoa Salad with Citrus Dressing: A light, citrusy quinoa salad brings out the herbal and lime notes in the cocktail.
Spicy and Savoury Dishes
Egusi Soup with Pounded Yam: The savoury, nutty flavors of Egusi soup are balanced by the refreshing and tangy Ify's Dare.
Spicy Goat Meat Pepper Soup: The cocktail’s cooling citrus and herbal qualities help to mellow the heat and spice of the pepper soup.
